His homeland welcomed him back with open arms and the smell of molten lava mixed in with smoke and ash. The fire easily passed underneath him as he crossed the threshold without the tiniest bit of worry about burning to death. Sparrow paused to look around, to take in the sight and the smells of the land that he had tried to escape from but alas could not. His father had died within its borders; perhaps that was normal for mortal equines, but immortals were something different. The murder was and still remained a spectacle to anyone, though only Sparrow truly knew of it and the murderer. There were rumors that softly began spreading throughout the atmosphere, rumors that were not shut down. Sparrow simply didn't react. And his mother, my goodness, where had she gone? Crazy, perhaps. No longer could he dwell on the things that came to pass, but as a leader whose followers relied upon him, Sparrow realized that he needed to fill the position the best he could. And yet he wondered if his best would actually be good enough.
The place seemed completely desolate and abandoned. The creeping feeling of being the only living creature within the walls made the stallion shudder. Alone. It was a word that he fretted over; he never wanted to be alone. He always felt the need now to have someone near. What if the murderer hid within the boundaries? Surely it was another immortal that had committed the heinous act; surely they were after him as well. Their motivation must have been the throne. It frightened him to the point where he released the pheromones but then called them back. You must control your emotions. That's what mother said.
The prince stamped his hoof in impatience and shook his mane, unable to stand still. A loud whinny escaped his vocals chords as he pleaded with the heavens and inquired any living equine if they could at all respond. Was he truly alone? Did he have no companion within the landscape? The Zraels, it seemed, were on the decline. Great. He would have to fix that as well. Where were the Nyxes when he needed them? Probably remaining oblivious to much that has passed. And as their current leader, he knew that he wanted them that way. Sparrow would love to sing and fly away from all of his problems, but he could not at the same time. Something chained him here, something invisible, that tugged him back even when he left for a long while.
[open to anyone who is interested. x3 he's still by the borders so if you cannot cross he can easily come to you. please reply! my muse is outrageously awesome right now.]
